Major Peewee AA Tournament - Ontario Winter Games - Preliminary Schedule

January 7-8, 2012

Tournament rules:

  • Five point system – one point per period and two for the win, ties per period and game will count as half.
  • Three teams advance to the playoffs: first place in each pool and a wild card, based on the following tiebreakers:
    • Record between the 2 teams 
    • Goals For and Against Differential
    • Goals For
    • Fewest penalties
    • First goal scored in tournament
    • Coin flip

Semi Final

  • 80 minute game. If the score is tied after regulation time, one 5 minute sudden-victory overtime (5 on 5) will be played.  If, a tie still exists after the end of the overtime period, there will be a five player shootout. The five shootout players must be identified prior to the start of the game. If the shootout does not break the tie, there will be a sudden-victory shootout in pairs until the tie is broken. No player may repeat in the shootout until all non-goaltenders have participated.

Final

  • 90 minute game. Team Pools - based on standings after 15 games:

Pool A - Gloucester Rangers, Seaway Valley Rapids, and Cumberland Jr. Grads.

Pool B - Ottawa Valley Silver Seven, Kanata Blazers, and Ottawa Sting.

  • No ice for Major Peewee “AA” teams and no league games Sat the 7th and Sunday the 8th of January 2012
  • 6 team Tournament will be for the top 6 teams in division standings after 15 league games
  • 15 games to be played prior to the Christmas break (association ice schedulers have been notified)

    ** The champion will represent the ODMHA and the OEMHL 2012 Ontario Winter Games men’s event. The Games will be hosted in Midland at the North Simcoe Sport and Recreation Centre and is scheduled to take place March 8-11, 2012. **

    Minor & Major Bantam & Midget All-Star games

    Date:  December 11, 2011

    Location: North Grenville Municipal Centre Kemptville

    • NOTE: OEMHL Rule 3-j) DRESS CODE: All “AA” & “A” league associations’ players & coaches
    must adhere to a dress code. This can consist of an association dress code already in place. If the
    association does not have a mandatory dress code, the League will impose a mandatory dress code for the teams under its jurisdiction. This code will be in effect for all league functions when representing the ODMHA Ontario East/Est “AA” & “A” League including out of Branch Tournaments. “AA” & “A” events are subject to a mandatory dress code at all times. League dress code will consist of shirt Tie or turtleneck no jeans no holes in pants.


    • The league standings as of 2359 hours November 23th 2011 are to be used to determine coaches for the game, as well as the distribution of players to the teams.


    • Teams must provide player’s names and other information as may be deemed necessary to the
    league by November 25th 2011. This is a must as it will allow for the program to be completed.
    Teams in each division will be ranked from top to bottom based up their respective “Win %” (i.e.
    points earned / games played).


    • Coaches from the 1st and 2nd place teams will be invited to participate in the games, along with
    their entire coaching staff, including trainers. (If coaches or trainers are not attending they must
    notify their convenor 72 hours prior to game time. Fines and or suspensions will be incurred if
    this is not followed to the letter).


    • Absolutely No Tournaments or game reschedules will be allowed. Absolutely No Exceptions will
    be given.


    • Association Representative will ensure teams attend.


    • 17 skaters 3 goalies will play. 2 alternates will be selected and announced and will be on ice for
    anthem and receive socks & sweaters. Of note in most years all alternates are used.


    • Of the alternates Convenor will ensure that at least 1 player of the 4 is a defenseman. These
    alternates can play on either team and will be part of the ceremony and are a part of each team.

    • Minor &Major Bantam - Minor &Major Midget players MUST be prepared to begin on ice play
    20 minutes prior to scheduled list time of their respective game. Association Representatives
    Coaches of respective teams as well as managers are responsible to ensure that selected players
    are fully aware of all rules.


    • Coaches will be invited to provide representatives from their respective teams as per the
    Convenors allocation. {Remember coaches for all levels this is an all star day your best
    players are to be selected. Convenors will monitor selection and if need be will discuss
    selections with you as well as the association representative and district chairpersons. This
    is an League All-Star Game.}


    • Players are assigned to teams by position. The League will ensure that all teams are represented.
    All players including alternates will receive a sweater and socks.


    • Convenors will attempt to provide the coaches with a team list and positions 48 hours prior to
    game time to facilitate line changes.


    • Periods: The League will determine and have the final say in the length of the games and
    periods. The ice will be used to a maximum.


    • Timekeepers Pucks and water bottles will be provided by the League.


    • Major Bantam – Minor & Major Midget periods will be 20 – 20 – 20 all games will be
    played on the main ice surface.


    • Floods will be after every period for Major Bantam – Minor & Major Midget periods.


    • Minor Bantam – periods will be 15 – 18 – 20 the game will be played in rink 2 with no
    overtime.


    • Floods will be after the second period for Minor Bantam.
